Who we are

The Corporate Strategy Lens publishes business books for working professionals, and short videos about workplace situations on YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn.

To publish those videos we run a small piece of software on our own computer. This policy describes what that software can access. It has one user: us. It is not offered to anyone else, and no one else can sign in to it.

We use YouTube API Services

Our software uses the YouTube API Services to upload videos to our own YouTube channel and to read the performance of those videos.

By using our YouTube channel or any of its content, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

What we access, and why

YouTube. With the permission of the channel's owner (us), the software can:

• upload videos, with their title, description, tags, thumbnail and playlist, to our own channel; and
• read YouTube Analytics reports for our own channel's videos — figures such as views, watch time, average percentage viewed, likes, comments, shares and subscribers gained.

Instagram. With the permission of the account's owner (us), the software can publish Reels to our own professional account and read the insights Instagram provides for those posts.

LinkedIn. We post to LinkedIn by hand. The software does not connect to LinkedIn at all.

Every figure we read is an aggregate count — how many people watched, liked or shared a video. None of it identifies who those people are. We do not access your profile, your messages, your subscriptions, your viewing history or anything about your account.

What we store

On one computer that we control, we keep:

• the videos and text we made, and a record of when each was published and where;
• the platform's identifier for each of our own posts; and
• the aggregate performance figures above, dated, so that we can compare how videos did.

The access keys that let the software act on our own accounts are stored on that same computer and are never shared.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or trade any information about anyone — viewers, followers or anyone else.
• We do not share the performance figures with anyone.
• We do not allow third parties to serve content or advertising through our software.
• We do not place cookies or collect anything from your device. This page does not use cookies, analytics or tracking of any kind.

Comments and messages

Some of our videos invite you to comment a word (for example SCORECARD) to receive a free resource. If you do, we see your comment the way anyone would on YouTube or Instagram, and we reply by hand with the resource. We use your handle only to send what you asked for. We do not add you to any list, and we keep no record of your handle beyond that platform's own conversation.

How to revoke access

The only Google account our software is authorised on is our own. If you have ever authorised any application with your Google account and want to remove its access, you can do so at any time at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Instagram and Facebook access can be removed from your Meta account's Apps and websites settings.

Keeping and deleting

We keep the records above — which are about our own videos, not about the people who watch them — for as long as we are publishing, because comparing how videos performed over time is the reason we keep them. If we stop using the YouTube API Services, we delete the YouTube data we have stored within 30 days.
